SMARC is back again with its annual hamfest! The last one went so good, we decided to expand it! This June 4th we’ll be setting up again the the Salvation Army Springfield Headquarters for a fun filled day of radio. We decided to set it around this time to give people one more good hamfest before field day hits. We’ve also gotten a few more vendors on the block this year, including Associated Radio and Mike’s Embroidery!
From 8am to 1pm we’ll have loads of table sales, vendors, testing sessions, presentations, prizes and food! There will also be plenty of parking and restroom facilities. So come out and see us!

Location: 1707 W Chestnut Expy, Springfield, MO 65802
Time: Setup starts at 6:30am and doors open to the public at 8am.
Entry Ticket: $5 in advance, $7 at the door (each entry ticket comes with 1 raffle ticket)
Table Ticket: $10 in advance, $15 at the door (Each rental purchase comes with 1 raffle ticket, not a ticket per table rented)
Additional Raffle Ticket: $1 each – Available until 12:30pm for the grand prize.
Breakfast: The Salvation Army Kitchen will be open and selling all kinds of breakfast items. All sales go to help the Salvation Army and their mission!
Lunch: Like Breakfast, the Salvation Army will have lunch covered for you!

Sessions and Testing
License testing session for all classes: Testing starts at 8:15am – You must register for your testing session online due to FCC requiring the FRN to be gotten before taking the test. Walk-in’s will be accept if space is available only after registering on your mobile device. Please register here and select “SMARC Hamfest” as the session: Registration
Larry Lamano: Transmission Line Basics – 9am
In this presentation, we’ll talk about what they are, what the specifications tell you, how standing waves are formed and the difference between VSWR, power loss and resonance. There will also be a brief discussion on matching networks and how Smith charts give a better view of antenna behavior than just VSWR measurements. Taught by former Apple and Collins engineer Larry Lamano!
ARRL: Introduction to ARRL – 10am
Learn about what the ARRL is and how it helps amateur radio operations across the nation. Get a chance to meet regional directors too!
Greene County ARES: Introduction to ARES – 11am
For local disaster, the Greene County ARES team provides assistance with many parts of an effort to keep the public safe. Working closely with the Greene County OEM, learn how you can help out as a radio operator!
Greene County/Regional SkyWarn: What is SkyWarn and how to get started – 12pm
Been interested in being a weather spotter or about SkyWarn in general? Then this is the session for you! Learn about SkyWarn and its part in helping the nation weather service get information to the public fast and effectively. Already know you want to be a part of SkyWarn? We’ll go over how to get started as well!
*during the SkyWarn presentation, we will announce the grand prize winner in the seesion, so no need to leave early!
Like any good hamfest, we have raffle prizes! Prizes will be drawn for every hour starting at 8:45am until 12:45 when the grand prize is drawn for. Ticket will continue to be sold up to 15 minutes prior to the grand prize drawing! You do not need to be preset to win the grand prize, but you MUST be present to win hourly door prizes. We will redraw after 1 minute with no confirmation on door prizes.
