–Nixa Amateur Radio Club Field Day—

Field Day 2013 is almost here! Saturday, June 22 we will begin setup at 7:30 a.m. at 900 N Cheyenne Rd in Nixa at the High Pointe Elementary School. Radio operations begin at 1:00 p.m. local time and continue to 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23 when we will begin the tear down process.

This is the 10th anniversary of the Nixa ARC Field Day! The MSHP BAT Van will be on hand for one HF operating station and a 6-meter station, and a large air-conditioned tent for two more stations. We will be utilizing the club’s Yaesu FT-950 and a second FT-950 and an FT-920 for the 3 HF stations and setting up Cushcraft A3S and A4S beams along with a SteppIR vertical, a 40m vertical, a 40m and an 80m double bazooka, and a Par omni-angle for 6-meters.

Saturday evening we will be having a nice BBQ for folks operating at the event and for folks that help set-up and tear down.

Restroom facilities will be located on-site since the Field Day location is not in town.  For those of you concerned with the heat, no worries as the operating stations will have AC cooling!

Arlen Evins, N6DDD, is providing a wonderful pendant for raffle to help offset the Field Day expenses. The Pendant is from from a natural Sleeping Beauty Turquoise nugget mounted in Sterling Silver. Suitable for either male or female, it is approximately 1 inch in size. Turquoise this size and quality is becoming very hard to find and has become quite collectible and will only become more valuable in the future. Tickets are $1 each, or 6 tickets for $5. All proceeds will go to the Nixa Amateur Radio Club to help defray the cost of field day, so help support the club and get your tickets at field day. The drawing will be at the close of field day exercises

We expect everyone to make it out to Field Day and to set up, tear down or operate during the event.  Bring a friend, too!  If you’re not a club member, but want to check out our group or just Field Day in general, feel free to stop by and help set up, tear down or operate!  Field Day is not successful if we’re not all involved.

Talk in will be on the SMLRS linked repeater system.  In Springfield, tune to 147.015+ PL 162.2 Hz; Joplin, 145.390- PL 91.5 Hz; Crane, 442.150+, PL 162.2 Hz or Nevada 145.450- PL 91.5 Hz.  Visit www.smlrs.info for more information on the Southwest Missouri Linked Repeater System, and www.nixahams.net for more information about Field Day or the club in general.
